move to keep things whole

I'm Sophia. I show what I see and sing what I hear. I dance with fire, air, on stilts, in water. I think about roots and rhizomes all the time. Mostly I find stillness in chaos and unabridged movement everywhere, and watch my own heart as it opens and closes and opens.

These photos are from the first of two days we worked with the kids in the community of Huanda at a school called Huinyaypac (that´s a completely phonetic spelling, apologies! It means ¨growing¨in Quechua).

Yesterday we had a day of chaos coming back from our 4-day break, improvising some morning workshops and then throwing together a show in a dirt lot ringed with mountains- we threw our main ¨Bus Show¨ out the window when half of our people and supplies didn´t show up, made a mad run to town in full makeup for kerosene, benzine, and unintentionally pink safety towels for the fire show. Hilarity, excellent company and a triple rainbow (the brightest I´ve ever seen) do wonders for spurring resourcefulness when all seemingly necessary factors to put on a free show disappear…
